Some updates to my KOS-MOS model.

Modeled up her visor. Fully functional for Hilbert Effect movement. The dark blue portion pops in and out to make room for the front circular visor to rotate over and cover KOS-MOS' eye, revealing the Hilbert Effect device.

Also reimplemented her hair 'wisps' which are particles that follow her hair length, constrained by curve guides.

It's pretty tough reading her side visor on the far right image, because it is facing into a light source so it has some hefty specular highlights going on..

Modeled and rendered in Blender.

Not feeling very enthusiastic about the project as a whole though, I dunno.. Might put her on the side for a bit and come back when I'm feeling more fresh. Can't say for sure just yet though.

I must say, this one is really coming together! I gave some criticism (both good and bad) on your first WIP, and I'm glad to see how you've improved on it. With the visor on, she really is starting to look like KOS-MOS. Still not a fan of the 'anime' nose and mouth, but her face is well proportioned otherwise and her hair is framing her face well. The visor is really pulling it together.

And I really have to agree with another commenter that she really looks like game 1 KOS-MOS despite having the game 3 visor. Maybe it's because it's a more 'anime' style, like game 1. Maybe you should take this opportunity to make the game 1 costume, maybe even the archetype Kevin originally designed. That would be fun to see!

I'm sad to hear that you're not so enthusiastic on this one. You seemed so excited before! But it never hurts to set aside a project to think on it. Otherwise, it'll become difficult to work on it if your heart's not in it.

I'm happy to hear that you're liking the direction she is going on, aside from the anime nose/mouth xD

She does indeed look more like Episode I Kossy, probably for that exact reason haha. Episode I was pretty anime styled, while 2/3 tilted away from that a bit, especially Episode II.

I wasn't overly thrilled about Ep2II in any form or fashion. the entire game was sub-par in my book. the voice acting, gameplay, animations; the entire game just smacks of 'I don't give a f**k'. But the animation and gameplay of EpIII was beautiful. Some of the plot could have used some work, but overall the game was a delightful gem. I really loved the look of KOS-MOS, and T-elos for that matter. In EpI, KOS-MOS is so distant and cold, stiff like you would expect of an android, but in EpIII, she's so graceful. Even though she's still very much an android, cold and distant, you can tell she's evolving, mastering herself.

As for your model, I would suggest looking into rendering an EpI KOS-MOS since it's more matching with the style of the game. maybe you'll feel better about it. And as you mentioned before, take a step away, put it away fro a while, whatever; sometimes a breather can help. Maybe you'll feel better about it when you come back to it.

Yea you hit Episode II on the head. It felt like an ugly, non finished game in all honesty.. It still like it, being a Xenosaga game, but it really falls short of the other two.

And while Episode III did feature some lovely animations, I felt many were too short. Almost like they were overcompensating for Episode II's long and ugly animations by making them super short and quick in Episode III..

Yeah, EpII really did feel unfinished. Sad to say, I don't think I got through even half of it before I gave up on it. I had to go find walkthroughs with spoilers to find out what I missed plot-wise (now we have the wikia pages). And really, I didn't feel like I missed out on much. I will say that between EpII and EpIII there was a wide plot disconnect (makes sense in terms of the plot, but...) that felt like there was something important I missed out in one of the earlier games, but it didn't stop me from enjoying the game. I would love to see more from this series. *Le sigh*

Well a lot of what happened between Episode II and III was covered in a little series called "Missing Year". I think it's been translated into English now by a third party.
